Marlowe Neal
Chief Executive Officer
Marlowe Neal's energetic and focused leadership stems from his diverse skillset and experience in finance, business development, bank management, investment advisory, public administration and education.
A graduate of Florida International University in Miami, FL., Marlowe obtained a Master of Science in Finance with a concentration in Investments in 2004, a BBA-Finance in 2003 and was inducted into Beta Gamma Sigma – a professional honour society and the highest distinction a business student can receive.
Marlowe has contributed to the development of the nation's future leaders serving as an adjunct professor, student mentor, and facilitator of financial literacy workshops. As CEO he leads Belize's only oil producing company and strives to nurture energy leaders who will propel BNE forward towards the realization of the company's 2020 Vision.
Carlos Avila
Finance & Administration Manager
Carlos Avila has amassed over thirty years of experience in finance and accounting, which provide a solid foundation for his role as Manager of Finance and Administration at BNE.
Having previously served as Senior Accountant at BNE and in the role of Financial Controller and Accountant elsewhere in the private sector, he has supplemented traditional and accountancy qualifications with a host of professional certifications, including in the areas of financial analysis and modeling, cost management, petroleum accounting and economics, and various comprehensive accounting software applications. Interests as diverse as history and music add colour to his credentials, underpinning his oversight of BNE’s financial and administrative processes and operations.

Mateus Furtado
Operations Manager
Mateus Furtado brings over twenty-five years of experience in electrical and mechanical engineering, power generation and distribution, gas processing, and project and plant management to his role as Operations Manager at BNE. His prior experience as a professional engineer and engineering manager earned in industries as diverse as food products processing, industrial chemical production, and aquaculture all contribute to his administration of production and operations at BNE.
Having supplemented graduate and post-graduate education in electrical engineering with professional certification in power generation, refrigeration, instrumentation, turbo machinery, gas processing, process facilities, and energy management, he leads the country’s only petroleum production operation with a passion emblematic of BNE’s mission.
Gerald Smith
Human Resources Coordinator
Gerald Smith brings long experience in accounting and human resources to his role as Human Resources Coordinator at BNE. His administration of human resources management and recruitment strategy, training and development, employee services, performance appraisals, company culture initiatives, and data management have benefitted from his previous experience as BNE’s Payroll Officer and in accounts supervision and accounting.
His traditional educational qualifications have been supplemented with widely ranging professional certification covering general human resource management, team building and motivation, labour law, and human resource software applications and data management. His motivation and supportive ethic complete the skill set required to administrate BNE’s diverse workforce needs.
